Resorts World Genting Wins Prestigious Prime Minister's Award At Malaysia Tourism Award

Resorts World Genting was awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award at the Malaysia Tourism Awards—recognition for its continuous efforts to promote tourism in the country.

The award fell under the Organization Category, which is one of two Prime Minister’s awards presented to industry players who take risks to create distinctive products and services that offer unique and memorable experiences in Malaysia. This biennial event is organized by the Ministry of Tourism & Culture.

Receiving Award

Genting Malaysia Berhad President and Chief Operating Officer Dato Seri Lee Choong Yan receives the award from Deputy Prime Minister, Dato Seri Dr Zahid Hamid at the event at PWTC.

“Resorts World Genting is honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Dato Seri Lee.  “We have just recently celebrated our 50th anniversary and this award certainly adds to our celebration.  We are very excited to promote Resorts World Genting and Malaysia to the world.  We are working very closely with Tourism Malaysia to achieve our goal as a one-stop holiday destination for all tourists,” he added.

Early in 2013, Resorts World Genting announced a RM5 billion investment to transform the resort into a world-class tourist destination. The new transformation will include the world’s first Twentieth Century Fox World Theme Park, which features attractions inspired by block-buster movies such as Planet of the Apes, Alien vs Predator, Ice Age, Rio and Night at the Museum. There will also be a new cable car system, Sky Avenue mall and Genting Premium Outlets.

The transformation is expected to help boost visitor numbers by 30% to 26 million annually. With the opening of the attractions, the resort will also add 5,000 employees to its current workforce of 13,000.
