Hokkien music has its own following among the Chinese diaspora all over the world—and in Malaysia, there would be those who love Hokkien music and who are familiar with such names as Cai Qiu Feng, Long Qian Yu, Chang Hsiu Ching and Chen Yin Git.

The four are big names in the Hokkien music scene in Taiwan—and they will soon be performing at Resorts World Genting. To be held at the Arena of Stars on 19 November 2016, 8.30pm, Taiwan Hokkien 4 Divas Live in Genting promises to be a good spectacle, with the singers delivering popular Hokkien hits, both old and new.

Cai Qiu Feng is songbird idolised by many of her fans. She has performed in concerts all over the world specifically in the US, Canada and Asia. The singer has released more than 30 albums since her debut album that came out when she was only 13. She is also well-known for singing the theme songs for many Taiwanese television drama series.

Long Qian Yu is another household name, crowned Queen of Hokkien by her Taiwanese fans. Like Cai Qiu Feng, she started singing at a young age but her focus was then on Mandarin songs. She switched to Hokkien songs in 1987 and over the years achieved popularity for performing theme songs for many Taiwanese television drama series.

Chang Hsiu Ching, on the other hand, first became famous for impersonating other stars. She, too, began singing at a tender age—participating in a competition at eight and moving on to TV shows when she was 12. Among her achievements was winning the Best Hokkien Female Singer award at the 6th Golden Melody Awards in 1993.

Chen Ying Git, for her part, is not only a singer but is also a producer. Of Taiwanese Hakka heritage, she, in fact, has been producing albums for a long time—through the 80s and 90s. She was a bar singer in a US Military Club when she was 18; her involvement in the field then was due to her family facing financial crisis. But she eventually tasted success, and today has more than 30 Chinese and Hokkien albums to her name.

Tickets to the Taiwan Hokkien 4 Divas Live in Genting concert are priced at RM488 (VIP), RM388 (PS1), RM338 (PS2), RM238 (PS3) and RM128 (PS4). There's a 10% discount for Genting Rewards Card (GRC) members via Genting Point and Rewards Point Redemption, and cash or credit card.
