DINING at three international restaurants from halfway across the world is possible right here at Resorts World Genting.

Avid foodies can now satisfy their cravings at Burger and Lobster, Motorino and Cafes Richard without having to fly out of the country.

To discover what these restaurants had to offer, we stopped for brunch at New York’s famous Motorino.

This quaint eatery with its white marble-topped tables and large wood-fired pizza ovens shipped in from Naples, Italy serves made-to-order pizzas using ingredients flown in from Italy.

“I can assure you that at Motorino’s, we serve the most authentic Italian pizza which cannot be compared to pizzas anywhere else in this country,” said SkyAvenue executive chef Andrea Zorcolo.

SkyAvenue is the new lifestyle and dining space in Genting Highlands and its entrance is via First World Hotel.

Zorcolo said Motorino’s takes its pizza seriously which is reflected in every pizza made.

“This includes the tomatoes, mozzarella and even the wheat flour used to make the dough.

“We don’t use pre-made or frozen ingredients here in Motorino. Our dough takes 24 hours to make and even our cheese is fresh,” he said.

When we tried it, we thought that the dough was cooked to perfection and the pizza was neither too thick nor thin.

Before we enjoyed the few varieties placed on the table, we were taught how to eat pizza.

We were advised to fold the slice of pizza in half and bite into it to get the full flavour.

“Also please do not let the hot and fresh pizza sit on the table for too long as it is meant to be eaten hot and quick like they do in Italy,” Zorcolo said, adding that over there, a 12” pizza was meant to be a meal for one.

There are nine different pizzas to choose from with a number of additional toppings that can be added to the pizza.

Apart from that, they also have chicken meatballs and chicken wings, which is a special addition at this restaurant.

Over at Cafes Richard, we were ready for a taste of France.

Cafes Richard aims to educate visitors about the different types of coffee and the various ways to brew it.

On the menu is an extensive variety of coffee and tea, and there is bound to be a flavour for everyone to enjoy in this classy Parisian-styled eatery.

“The heart of our concept is coffee and we aim to have a discovery concept where customers can learn more about the different types of coffee and its taste,” said Cafes Richard outlet ambassador Thibault K Bidi.

We ordered Cafe Au Lait which means coffee with milk in English, which was served with a coffee press and also a timer set at four minutes, attached to the top of the press and a bowl to pour the coffee into.

Once it beeped, a waiter turned off the timer and advised us to pour the coffee and drink it immediately to get the perfect temperature and flavour of the coffee.

Milk and sugar was served separately so diners could pour as much as they wanted.

For those looking for a light bite, the cafe offers Parisian high tea, French food and tidbits.

With a belly full of coffee, we made our way to London’s famous Burger & Lobster located next to Cafes Richard.

This much talked about eatery features lobsters air-flown from Nova Scotia, Canada, weekly. Customers can be seen queuing up as soon as the restaurant opens its doors.

“We were equally surprised with the phenomenal response and we have received more than 800 people a day,” said operations manager Riccardo LaMonica.

Burger & Lobster has 20 restaurants worldwide but the Malaysia eatery is the only one with a dish customised for it.

The first-ever Chilli Lobster, which is served with Burger & Lobster’s signature brioche bun, is dedicated to Malaysians and their love for spicy food.

Upon trying it, the spiciness level was just right and the dish proved to be rather flavourful.

“This is one of our best-sellers here and we are looking to introduce it to our other outlets as well,” he said, adding that more than 70% of their customers, worldwide, were Asians.

The Original, Big Boys Lobster and Lobster Rolls are some of the options on the menu.

“And not forgetting my personal favourite, the burger which is a combination of seafood and meat, what is the perfect combination,” he said.

Here, some of the in-house drinks are served in plastic bags.

“This is a well-known drink presentation in Malaysia and we thought it was very interesting and decided to introduce it at our restaurant here,” he said.
