The most successful companies in the world are those that value their staff, and recognise their contributions and achievements. Resorts World Genting is one such company—its yearly Genting Employee Appreciation Nite reminding its employees that they play an important role in delivering results and success for the company.

Like previous years, the Genting Employee Appreciation Nite 2017 that was held recently saw a long list of workers being recognised for their loyalty and service in contributing to the resort's growth.

Genting Malaysia Berhad President and COO Dato' Sri Lee Choong Yan said this year is especially significant as the resort has managed to chalk up many milestones with the steady progress of the Genting Integrated Tourism Plan. “From the development of SkyAvenue and Awana SkyWay to the setting up of East Coast Arts and Cultural Centre (Senikome), as well as the redevelopment of Theme Park Hotel into Hotel on the Park, each one of you has contributed in one way or another towards the successful completion of these projects,” Lee said in addressing the employees at the event.

The resort's legacy in awarding long service employees dates back to 1980. The event rewards those who have been with the company for between five and 45 years. For the past 20 years, some 1,600 employees have received the Long Service Awards. Other award categories are Employee of the Year Award, Honesty Award, and Retirement Award.

Lee himself was a recipient of the Long Service Award 2017, having served for 20 years. “Along with another 210 of you, I have now reached the doorstep of a 20-year employment history with Genting Malaysia,” he said in his speech.

Senior management recognised for their long service

Apart from Lee, other senior managers who received the Long Service Award 2017 were Rocky Too, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, who has spent 20 years with the resort, and Aaron Chia, Executive Vice President of Resort Operation, who has spent 15 years with the resort.

Four Assistant Vice Presidents who also received the award were Steven Ravi, Tee Piau Kiat, Chong Koh Chooi, and Yun Leong Yu.

This year, the resort paid tribute to a total of 1,609 employees who have rendered between five and 35 years of service to the company. Thirty-seven workers received long service recognition for 35 years, while 35 received the award for 30 years. Another 142 workers celebrated their silver jubilee with the company, having clocked in 25 years. The ceremony also honoured 25 employees who were at the threshold of their retirement.

There were 12 recipients of the Employee of the Year Award 2017.
