George Lam first lit up the silver screen in the late 70s and early 80s, winning a huge fan base as he made a name for himself. Today the actor-singer has not lost any of his appeal. His name still commands admiration and his charisma still draws enthusiastic crowds—as evident at his concert at Resorts World Genting last year that drew a full house.

Understandably Lam is keen to deliver a solid encore, and he will do so at George Lam 40th Anniversary Live in Genting 2018 – Encore to be held at the Arena of Stars on 3 February 2018, 8.30pm.

Fans can catch the veteran Cantopop star as he demonstrates once again why he has remained popular for the past four decades, particularly in Hong Kong where he won several awards at the reputable RTHK Top 10 Gold Songs Awards. In recognition of his numerous contributions to the music scene, Lam was awarded the Golden Needle Award in 1994. The award is the highest form of recognition in the Hong Kong music industry.

Like the title of his concert to be held at the resort suggests, Lam is celebrating 40 years in the music industry. The star who is best noted for his films like Zai Sheng Ren and All the Wrong Clues for the Right Solution, is still a bundle of energy. Kick-starting his anniversary tour at the Hong Kong Coliseum—selling out all four nights—Lam had no qualms about changing the musical arrangements for his past hit songs in order to provide his audience something fresh. He didn’t want to simply ride the nostalgia train and stick to the old way of delivery, choosing to give his renditions a new twist.

Evidently versatility and spontaneity are traits that have served Lam well over the years—and fans at his upcoming concert can perhaps expect to see more of this side of him.
