Its All Happening at Genting Winter Wonderland


In the spirit of the festive season, Resorts World Genting is throwing the greatest Christmas party ever in a countdown to the most wonderful day of the year. From 28th November 2019 to 1st January 2020, ‘It’s All Happening at Genting Winter Wonderland’ where the resort comes alive with bright lights and warm glows, showering guests in the splendour of Christmas, magical decorations and exciting events.

At the official Genting Winter Wonderland Great Christmas Light Up opening ceremony on 28th November 2019, Dato Edward Holloway, Executive Vice President of Leisure & Hospitality together with the management team kicked off the month of festivities with the grand ceremony at the outdoor Metro Park. Serenaded by choirs and musicians with ice-skaters pirouetting in complex formations, the ceremony was full of the magic ingredients that make the Christmas season special.


‘As our Christmas lights are switched on today, we have set the scene for a wonderful start to the Christmas festivities. The Resort is a one-stop destination where our entire space has been lavishly decorated indoors and outdoors. We are one of the only destinations in Malaysia to have truly prepared an authentic Christmas Winter Wonderland filled with an array of festive treats. There are a series of world class performances featuring an amazing line-up of Malaysian and international artists.   We even flew in the original Santa Claus who will be meeting all the kids at SkyAtrium and Metro Park,’ quipped Dato Edward.

For those who are interested in a comprehensive experience of the Genting Winter Wonderland, can follow the GohTong Walk trail which is located at 11 different locations comprising of SkyAtrium at the SkyAvenue, Hill Top Grocer, Arena of Stars, Metro Park, Metro City, Park Avenue Lounge, Zouk Atrium, Pavilion, GohTong Jaya Baru, SkySymphony and Medan Selera to name a few.



Taking place at the outdoor Metro Park twice in the evenings are the 7.30pm for Christmas Light Up show and 10pm for Christmas Show. A 30-minute spectacular Christmas performance kicks off that includes Santa Claus, Elf, Reindeer, ice-skaters, The Broadway Choir Group, the Christmas Quartet and Genting’s Highland Heroes.

Brian Keith Zimmerman a professional puppeteer and pioneer of children’s television entertainment (including work with Disney, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network) will play Santa Claus. He will be on stage at Metro Park and at SkyAtrium with an attentive Elf to thrill children and parents in attendance with his wacky wit. 

Together with Santa, six skaters will also be performing an astounding choreographed routine at the ice rink. Leading the group will be Russian ice skaters Aleksander Popov and Elena Efaeva. They will be joined by award-winning international champions and soloists Doris Pircher, Bulat Ikhsanov and sisters Valerii and Alisa Liashchenko.



The musical backdrop at the Christmas Light Up is the 15-member choir from Malaysia’s very own Broadway Academy and a harpist. They will be joined onstage by powerful voices and resonant tunes of four singers from New York that form a special Christmas quartet. Soprano Brittany Baratz, tenor Curtis Reynolds, alto Sandy Taylor and bass Michael Yeshion – will bring their Broadway musical experience to create a truly magical and musical Christmas moment. The Voice of Independent Brass Ensemble & Strings (V.I.B.E.S) band will also be grooving away, translating familiar Christmas tunes in a rousing brass band arrangement. The team will be featuring classic Christmas songs such as White Christmas, Jingle Bells and All I Want For Christmas Is You.




Another highlight at the Metro Park is the three-storey towering crystalline Christmas tree standing tall for a perfect family picture.  European Christmas Market where pretty Christmas goodies are on sale is nearby. Guests can also don skates and emulate the Russian ice-skating champions when the rink is open to the public twice a day at 5.30pm and 8.30pm.

Nearby the Gazebo Garden will be where guests can mingle and munch on delicious treats from 9 food trucks. Choose from Il Lago for Italian or piping hot fish and chips from Harry Ramsden. There is a beer garden and kiosks selling Christmas puddings, cakes, pies and other festive treats. For more picture opportunities, a gift-wrapped London double-decker bus is also showcased here.


Just off the Gazebo Garden is a special open-air area surrounding the lake, where classic Christmas movies will be screened twice a day, with live football matches also broadcast over weekends.


Head to the SkySymphony Stage for A Nutcracker’s Wonderland. The SkySymphony stage features a rotating carousel, filled with golden presents, cheerful Nutcracker figurines, matched with pretty pink decorations and stunning creative displays that invoke the spirit of joy and festivity. 

This splendid scene will be accompanied by a Christmas SkySymphony show created by Genting Studios. Snowball Express directed by Guy Vasilovich and produced by Daniel Regis Brown and Steven Lim, takes viewers on an enchanted ride to North Pole with Genting’s Highland Heroes featuring music from The Nutcracker. This will be followed by energetic pop-up dance shows at 3pm and 5pm at Times Square stage.

Just down the corridor, another set of spectacular Nutcracker figurines flank a majestic golden organ and a choir of heavenly angels in the SkyAtrium. Here a grand seat awaits Santa Claus. Come and take pictures with Santa and sing along to Christmas carols performed by Broadway Academy. Showtime is at 12pm, 4pm and 6.20pm.  


A spectacular and special appearance by Fivera – Thailand’s first classical crossover group who are champions of the classical-pop genre will also be giving a series of short concerts at Park Avenue Lounge at 3pm and 5pm on 8th, 10th, 11th and 12th December, at the Genting International Showroom on 9th December and at Genting Club at 10pm on 13th December.  


Allie the Elephant is welcoming everyone to join her at the Christmas Carnival Celebration, from 23rd November 2019 to 1st January 2020 between 10am and 10pm daily at Level G, SkyAvenue. Allie’s Courtyard promises a fun playground and an opportunity to take home exclusive Resorts World Genting Christmas souvenirs. 

A wide range of games are available – including making crazy poses at the Be A Pin Up booth, strapping into a harness to collect plushies in the Tabby Giant Claw Machine, catch falling sticks in Be Fast & Be Sharp Like Callie and avoiding shocks in the Geno Shake Shake No More challenge. Allie’s Courtyard Christmas Carnival Games will be open to all guests who have purchased Theme Park Save Combo Tickets or have dined at Ed’s Diner or Medan Selera. 

The Christmas Parade by the Highland Heroes will march through the Carnival several times a day. A flash mob will get the energy going when you least expect it. You can get up close and personal with the Highland Heroes themselves in a special meet and greet session daily at Allie’s Courtyard and SkyAtrium over the Christmas period.
