A fun filled 24 hour food trail and retail
therapy took place at Resorts World Genting. Over 10 bloggers and influencers
participated in this exclusive event, which required them to eat and shop
within the given time frame. Think of it as the Amazing Race, but this time
with a lot of eating and shopping.
The day began after a quick check-in at First World Hotel followed by breakfast at Park Avenue Louge. The picturesque venue served up a delicious breakfast special consisting of poached eggs, turkey ham, and cheese croissant with a cup of latte. Sharing portions were perfect for this as they had Tampopo Delicieux for their next stop.
An authentic Japanese cuisine like none,
the restaurant featured signature items from the menu, one of which is the Chicken
Katsu Curry Rice and Ramen with Ebi Tendon, salad, and agedashi tofu. Portions
were large than expected which posed as a challenge but everyone braved through
the delicious meal.
After that it was time for some much needed shopping.Off to several skincare outlets they went,
where they got to learn about a product or two by the well versed sales
personnel who gave them samples to try on in Sulwahsoo. At Cle De Peau goodie
bags offered came with a lipstick and lip gloss whilst Kiehl’s had given a
customized skincare goodie bag based on the skin check done by the outlet’s
personnel. With big smiles on their face and zillions of pictures later they
were ready to eat once more.
This time it was lunch at the cosy Ming Ren
at Genting Grand Hotel that is known to serve delicious Chinese food. From the
star dish being the lamb to the famous halal dim sums. Of steamed siew mai,
steamed prawns dumpling, eggs tart, and cheese rolls it was truly a feast.
Onto the next skincare outlet, this time it
was L’Occitane. Upon arriving at the store they were ushered in and shown the
latest Christmas collection comprising of Almond selections and a Power Up
essential kit. Each were given a goodie bag that included a shampoo, lotion,
and shower gel.
It was time for dessert but before that,
Bath and Bodyworks was due for a quick visit. The store reflected the
anticipated holiday season well with its various scents ranging from Frosted Coconut Snowball to
Spiced Gingerbread Swirl, Winter Candy Apple, and Vanilla Bean Noel to list a few. More pictures were taken and
fragrances were tried before donut time at Krispy Kreme.
The American donut chain with
over 16 different flavours to choose from highlighted their holiday season
specials; the Famous Amos Double Chocolate Chip Donut and the Famous Amos Red
Velvet Christmas Donut. Both of which tasted yummy and were not too sweet.
From donuts to coffee well in this case it was chocolate beverages at Dal.Komm
Coffee. Over here the sweet tooth fans rejoiced yet again with the Christmas
special called the Merry Merrier Christmas series with signature items being
the Premium Salted Chocolate that is topped with Netherland Caramel Waffle
& Salted Chocolate Frappe.
With bellies filled it was time
for Chinese desserts at Lol Soon Kee. Many of whom thoroughly enjoyed the mix
of healthy and traditional items. Classics such as red date fungus, Malaysian
favourite “bubur cha -cha”, The Winner fondly known as Tong Sui featuring a mix
of peanut and sesame soup with glutinous rice balls, and curry fish balls were
With all the eating done thus
far, it was time for something fluffy and warm, with Tokyo Secret being the
right fit to do so! Many enjoyed fluffy crepe cakes that came in vanilla and pandan to Hanjuku Cheese tarts served
with hot tea and fresh juice! On top of that, a fragrant nasi lemak ayam rempah and Hawaiian pizza were bought out for a
taste as well.
And the shopping continued where
clothing store Outfit provided everyone with a cash voucher to shop to their
liking. Labels that can be found in Outfit includes prominent labels such as Topshop,
Topman, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins and Burton. On top of that, the store
was playing its part in the season of giving with a 50% off on selected items.
And for those who wanted
sportswears shopped at labels such as Under Armour, Adidas, and Puma where a
30% discount was offered on the entire receipt.
It was time for dinner, and hot
pot lovers were in for a treat as Steam Era served up delicious classic Chinese
dishes that were packed with robust flavours. The likes of live tiger prawns
that were steamed in front of them to Hong Kong style beef brisket pot, braised
lamb trotter, tiger grouper, and handmade steamed chicken and squid ball. After
this feast was over, everyone made their way to Hanburger and Pies in The Sky,
for some freshly made signature Hanburger comprising of a juicy mustard grilled
double wagyu beef patty, applewood smoked beef bacon, caramelized onions,
American cheese, gherkin, tomato relish sandwiched between lettuce and two
toasty buns to massive sized pizzas that were bigger than one’s hands.
The final leg of the retail
therapy for the day took place at Outpozt, a trendy fashion, beauty, and eatery
store that features prominent Korean labels. The likes of SPAO, SHOOPEN &
MIXXO from Korea, 7DAYZ, hip streetwear brands namely TNTC0, STONED & CO,
BERFOE (by BLAUGRUN), VIBRATE and sportswear corner, SPORTMART can all be found
in the store. Those on a healthy diet can consider hipster café Wake and
Cartopus that serves up healthy bento snacks/meals.
As for beauty, Play Up was
a hit with the crowd as the multi-brand beauty section had over 200
international and local brands from all over the world present. Including the
infamous Jefferee Star palette.
To cap the night, everyone were
at Fuhu and Redtail Karaoke to unwind with some delicious canapés, beers, and
cocktails whilst playing Jenga and socializing. Some decided to belt out to
their favourite songs in Redtail’s Karaoke room.
The last day involved more
eating and shopping, with a little pampering in between at Resort’s Hotel
Oriental Signature. The Oriental Signature is no stranger on the wellness and
beauty scene having specialized in Authentic Foot Reflexology, Head, Shoulder,
and Back Massage, Body Reflexology Massage and many more. Other treatments
include manicure, massage and facial. With tummies filled after a delicious
Malaysian breakfast at Medan Selera, they were advised to go for a foot and
shoulder massage instead of a full body massage.
Once the one hour massage was completed
it was time for some cosmetics pampering at Chanel. The outlet manager spoke
about the latest collection along and gave out sample size of the much loved
N05 Prestige perfume and hydrating foundations for one’s base before makeup is
In no time it was lunch and
there were two restaurants to visit, one being Babajia that specializes in
Nyonya cuisine and Grandmama known for its local staples. From chicken pongteh
and asam spicy fish to Grandmama’s Nasi Lemak and dry fried sang har egg
noodles with fresh prawns. To cool down after lunch, desserts such as the
popular ABC were served.
Once lunch was done it was time
to bid them farewell as the food and retail therapy session had come to an end.
Everyone were glad to partake in this exciting activity.
