Genting Malaysia Berhad has won the Industry Excellence Award in Tourism at the 7th ASEAN Business Awards Malaysia, attesting to the company's continued excellence and innovation culture.

The annual awards recognize outstanding businesses and entrepreneurs that have contributed to the national economy by expanding into the ASEAN region. Companies competing in the Industry Excellence category also have to demonstrate exemplary track records in terms of growth, employment, innovation and CSR.

Receiving the award from Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak, Genting Malaysia President and Chief Operating Officer Dato' Sri Lee Choong Yan said the recognition is a testament to Resorts World Genting's enduring popularity and continued growth.

“We welcome approximately 20 million visitors every year. We have more than 10,000 hotel rooms, and over 100 food outlets and restaurants. We have cinemas, theatres, concert halls and a theme park,” said Dato’ Sri Lee.

“It is a truly integrated resort that appeals to both the young and old and that's why after more than 50 years, people are still coming back.”

To stay competitive by remaining current and relevant, Resorts World Genting is undergoing a transformation, with new attractions such as the world’s first 20th Century Fox World theme park. Other developments include two new shopping malls – Sky Avenue and Genting Premium Outlet – as well as a new cable car system.

The resort is also investing in more facilities and infrastructure to accommodate the expected increase in visitor numbers. These new developments are spurring job creation, with thousands of openings at the resort.

Besides the domestic market, Genting Malaysia is on track to become a leading integrated resort operator globally, with presence in New York, Las Vegas and Birmingham. Its growth as a multinational company helped raise Malaysia’s profile as a tourist destination, drawing visitors from Singapore, China and beyond.

Culture of excellence via employee engagement

The Industry Excellence Award further cements Genting Malaysia's status as a successful employer, with its varied initiatives to boost employee engagement.

To remain competitive, Genting Malaysia has invested heavily in its employees’ professional development. The company’s blended learning approach enables employees to chart their personal and professional growth on different platforms, courses and levels through a combination of self-study, classroom training, on-the-job coaching and e-learning.

Genting Malaysia also focuses on their employees’ personal development with its philosophy of play, learn and grow together to ensure good work-life balance. This in turn builds a positive workplace culture where loyal employees embody the company’s core values of creating a happy and fun environment for customers.
